What to Expect in Therapy
In general, upon beginning work with a new client, we will begin by conducting the intake and set your goals for therapy. Upon having completed my therapeutic plan, I will share it with you and seek your input (what you would like to explore first, or if you prefer a certain approach, etc.). Following this, we will begin to explore a little deeper while I share some relevant therapeutic concepts and help you understand your emotions and experiences.
Therapy can sometimes be a challenging and emotional process. Research consistently shows that one of the most important factors in successful therapy is the strength of the therapeutic relationship. It is important that you feel comfortable, safe, and supported in our work together.
If you have any questions or concerns about anything you read on my website or anything that arises during our sessions, please feel free to bring them forward at any time. Open communication is an important part of the therapeutic process.
However, if after a few sessions you feel that we may not be the best fit, I welcome that conversation. In some cases, we may be able to adjust our approach to better meet your needs. However, if you decide you would prefer to work with another therapist, I fully support that decision as your well-being and care are my priority.
